This Profound Mystery

A healthy marriage is not just for the enjoyment of the husband and wife; it is also for the enjoyment of God Himself.

There is nothing on earth that paints a more accurate picture of Christ and the church than a healthy marriage. The Apostle Paul makes this clear while giving marital counseling to husbands and wives in the city of Ephesus, located in what is now modern day Turkey. God not only wants every local church to fight to protect marriages against divorce, He wants marriages to thrive so that they demonstrate the robust, healthy, dynamic interplay between Christ and His people.

You don’t need to have a perfect marriage in order to demonstrate Christ’s love for the church because the church is not perfect, either. Any marriage that demonstrates how imperfect people can be patient, forgive, and process through their problems will exalt Christ.

Though your marriage is imperfect, will you ask Christ today to use it to illustrate the wonderful dynamic between Christ and His people?

Father God, I present to You my marriage with all its challenges. I ask You to be glorified in my family life today, in Jesus’ Name.
