"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." — Joshua 1:9 (ESV)
Joshua was about to take on a great responsibility: leading the people of Israel after the death of Moses. Imagine the pressure of following such an extraordinary leader, and having to conquer a land filled with giants, fortified cities, and unknown dangers. From a human perspective, Joshua had every reason to feel fear and discouragement. But in the midst of that challenge, God didn’t give him a military strategy. He gave him a word: “Be strong and courageous.”
That same word is for us today. We live in times of transition, uncertainty, and struggle. Sometimes we face invisible battles in our homes, in our marriages, with our children, or in ministry. We put in the effort... but see no results. We feel exhausted, filled with unanswered questions.
But there is one unchanging truth: God is still with you. He not only encourages you, He fights beside you. You are not alone in this battle. Even if you haven’t seen the victory yet, God is already preparing it.
Conquer your fears. Conquer discouragement. Rise up as a son, as a daughter of God. Fight for your home, for your faith, for the dreams He planted in your heart. God has not forgotten you.
Take a moment alone with God and ask yourself:
What is paralyzing me?
What area of my life needs to be conquered?
Write them down. Then declare Joshua 1:9 (ESV) aloud. Pray with determination. Thank God for the victory even if you haven’t seen it yet.
You’re not fighting in vain. God is with you. Be strong. Be courageous. He will not leave you.
