“With whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” – James 1:17
We live in times when everything seems to be shifting. What feels secure today may vanish tomorrow. Social, economic, and even personal structures are shaken by news, illness, conflict, or unexpected change. But in the midst of all this uncertainty, God's Word reminds us of one eternal truth: God does not change.
In Him there is no variation.
No fluctuation.
No inconsistency.
No shadow of turning.
He remains sovereign, even when the world feels out of control. He is not swayed by current events. He does not react to the unexpected, because nothing takes Him by surprise. He is not moved by trends or by time. Nothing destabilizes Him. His character is firm, His purpose eternal, and His love unshakable.
God does not move. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His promises do not expire. His love does not waver based on our performance. His mercy does not run dry. What He was to Abraham, to Moses, to David, and to the early church, He is still today.
Look back for a moment. Reflect on your life. How many times were you on the edge of fear, of despair, of not knowing what to do and yet God was there? Maybe He didn’t answer the way you expected. Maybe the timing wasn’t what you hoped for. But He was faithful. He sustained you. He provided. He comforted. He opened a door. He made a way.
Why wouldn’t He be faithful now?
His faithfulness in the past is not just a memory to cherish, it’s a foundation to build your present and future on. When everything around you feels unstable, this truth is your refuge: God has not changed. And He never will.
In seasons of waiting, He is still working.
In seasons of loss, He is still near.
In moments of fear, He is still sovereign.
We must train our hearts to remember not just what God has done, but who He is. And we must choose to anchor ourselves not in headlines or emotions, but in the unchanging truth of who God has always been.
That’s why today, as individuals and families, we must lift our eyes.
Higher than the crisis.
Higher than the confusion.
Higher than the chaos.
We fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
We declare, with confidence rooted in Scripture and experience:“My God is the same. He has not moved. He is faithful, and He is with me.”
Even when the world changes—He remains.
Even when we change—His love does not.
Even when we don’t understand—He is still good.
Hold tightly to that truth.
Speak it. Pray it. Let it settle deep into your spirit:
God does not change. And He is faithful.
