"Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes."
Matthew 24:46 (ESV)
The Second Coming of Christ is not just a biblical prophecy—it is a living promise meant to fill every Christian home with hope and expectation. Jesus is coming soon, and His return will be glorious. But as we wait, we are not called to remain idle, but to live with purpose—actively, faithfully, and watchfully.
In this verse, we are told that we will be blessed if, when He returns, He finds us doing His will. It is not enough to know that Christ is coming; what truly matters is being busy with what He commanded us to do: living in holiness, proclaiming the Gospel, making disciples, and loving as He loved us.
Jesus calls us to be watchful—not to fall asleep spiritually. Being awake means living in obedience, keeping our eyes on Jesus and our feet firmly planted in His mission.
So how can a Christian family prepare for that glorious day?
—Living in holiness "You shall be holy, for I am holy."1 Peter 1:16 (ESV)Holiness begins in the heart, but it is reflected in the daily decisions of every family member.
—Watching and praying "Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming."Matthew 24:42 (ESV)A family that prays together stays alert, sensitive to God’s voice, and united in purpose.
—Loving and serving as a family of faith "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."John 13:35 (ESV)Love in the home is a powerful testimony of the Kingdom of God on earth.
The vision of the Kingdom must run through the world—and it begins at home. As a family, we must live each day as if it were the day of Jesus’ return, joyfully engaged in His work.
When He comes, may He find us doing just that!
